Dear Valued WWC Members,

How are you doing?  We want to take a moment to check in to see how all of our members are doing in this uncertain time.  Coping with stress is one thing, coping with the stress related to a pandemic is another thing.
Remember to find ways to cope with stress to ease some of the pressure:

  • Take breaks from watching, reading or listening to news stories, including social media.  Hearing about the pandemic can be repeatedly upsetting. All of our social media outlets are designed to lift your spirits and give you virtual workout options!
  • Take care of your body.  Take deep breaths, stretch and meditate.  Join Meagan Wilson’s Wednesday Zoom Class called RELAX DEEPLY which brings you through a gentle stretch and meditation to relax you and help you sleep. Email for details
  • Try to eat healthy, well balanced meals.  Apparently the sale of junk food (and toilet paper!) is on the rise.  Now is the time to try new healthy recipes with balance, or order a delicious, balanced meal from our friends at Urban Prairie Cuisine (email for a menu).
  • Exercise regularly and get plenty of sleep.  These go hand in hand!  Be sure to check out our Instagram account @wwc_fitness with regular workout postings, notifications and tips!  Also we are posting many workouts on our YouTube Channel.
  • Make time to unwind.  Try to do some other activities you enjoy.  We have attached a few unwinding activities for adults that you maybe have always considered but never tried.  If you are looking for activities for the family or the kids, check out our Instagram account @wwc_families!
  • Connect with others.  Talk to people you trust about your concerns and how you are feeling.  Connecting via phone, text, video conference, email or written letters are all great ways to connect.  Connect with us too!  Send an email here addressed to any of our staff and we will ensure the note gets forwarded on.  We would love to connect with you! It doesn’t have to be about sport, it could be about family, Ozark, workout tips…. Anything!   (info from

Stay healthy and stay safe and remember, we are all in this together.

If you need any motivation for completing your jumps, or your just want some good company while you jump, join us at 1:30 pm Monday-Friday on Zoom. Jessica will complete a Jumping Jack gym class where we will complete a total of 150 jumping jacks by the end. This class is approximately 15 minutes long. Let Jessica know if you would like to be invited to class.

Completing each class will let you colour in 15 stars on your tracking sheet! But remember, you can do as many jumping jacks as you want in a day, not just in gym class.

We are all in this together!

Let's show the power of our youth and the things we can accomplish together and let's hit that 20,000 jumping jack goaL.  Can we count on you to reach our goals for the next 30 days?

Dear Valued WWC Members,
The Board, working hand in hand with our Management Team, continue to analyze the Club’s financial position and monitor all expenses throughout this difficult time, responding to conditions as necessary.  Ultimately, the Board has a fiduciary responsibility to protect the Club and be a good custodian of the assets. This is our duty to all of the members/shareholders.
WWC staff have largely been reduced down to a minimal number of essential administrative and maintenance people; staff in positions such as the front desk, locker rooms, child services, junior lounge, trainers, and some maintenance staff have in fact been laid off.

Provincial regulations and our insurer require certain staff be maintained.  An example of this, our Ammonia Plant requires us to have an Engineer on site to comply with insurance and security requirements.

We are taking full advantage of the Federal Government’s CEWS program which is contributing significantly to the wages of the Club staff that have been retained. This has resulted in further reduction in operating costs and in turn, we are able to offer a 33% reduction in fees to members (member retention credit).

All told, the Club has left no stone unturned in cutting operating expenses - we have achieved a $70,000 reduction in monthly expense which includes deferral of our mortgage payments.

Despite laying off staff, reducing operating expenses to the bare minimum and benefiting from the Canadian Emergency Wage Subsidy program, other operating costs are still incurred and must be paid for by the member-owners.
The practices that we are employing are the same practices that our reciprocal clubs across the country are adhering too. Private Clubs such as the Winnipeg Winter Club are member owned and the members indeed fund Club operations.
The Board and Management recognize that the challenges and individual circumstances will vary within our membership.  In addition to providing some across the board relief by reducing membership fees by 33% for April-June, our General Manager has been instructed to work individually with members experiencing extreme financial hardship to arrange for a payment plan. The Board understands and appreciates the need to provide as much relief as possible to individual members with an overarching goal of retaining membership, while balancing the need to fulfill our fiduciary obligation to protect the Club and its member-owners at large.

We are all in this together, and thank you for your support.

Dear Valued Members,

We are very pleased with the positive feedback we have received from many WWC members regarding the 33% member retention rebate announced on Thursday April 1st.  Many members have favorably responded and have asked us NOT to take the discount from their dues for the next three months. We appreciate your support in offering to pay full dues, however, this discount is Club wide and since we are all in this together, everyone will receive the same benefit.  The best way you can support the Club is by staying home and staying healthy so you can return to the Club as soon as we are able to re-open.
