Tennis

Any and all Tennis activities are suspended for 2 weeks from November 2nd- November 15th. Hopefully we can restart after this period on November 16th. Please follow the email updates from the Club and postings on our website for updated information in the days ahead.

Stay safe! We are all in this together. Thank you and take care!

- REMEBER TO REGISTER! Only players who have pre-registered for the clinic are allowed to participate. No drop ins.
- Members can register for ONLY ONE CLINIC on days when back to back clinics are offered.
- If you are registered for a clinic but can't attend, please contact Reception and remove your name so members on the waiting list can be contacted.
- If you are on a waiting list for clinics that are full and not contacted to participate, you will be placed in the following week's clinic. We will contact you to confirm/remove your name for the next week's clinic

IMPROVING PRIME TIME BOOKING OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL MEMBERS

The Tennis Department, Management and booking site developer have heard many concerns about the difficulty in securing courts for casual play, especially during prime time hours. Please know that we are working diligently on many ideas and strategies to solve these concerns. We are hopeful we can tackle most of these concerns in the upcoming weeks. To avoid overloading and crashing the system with a massive change, we will instead make small adjustments each time and fix any bugs before we move on to the next adjustment. Thank you for your patience as we work and upload these adjustments.

IMPROVING PRIME TIME BOOKING - STARTING ON THE WEEKEND OF OCTOBER 31ST.

We are trying this first adjustment to help members get the chance to book in prime time.

Please note:
- Saturdays and Sundays will now be prime time all day from 7:00 am - 9:00 pm.
- Adjust your booking habits and weekend schedule knowing you can only book and play once a day in advance.
- A new category in the legend on the booking site will be created and called "Same day/extra booking".
- For those looking to play twice on the same weekend day, you may consult the booking page the morning of and if there is an opening, you may call Reception starting at 7:00 am same day and book. Reception will input the names     of your party using the new button. This will be on a first call, first serve basis.

IMPROVING PRIME TIME BOOKING - WHAT CAN YOU, AS A MEMBER, DO?

Be mindful that your fellow members also want to access and use the courts. Let's help each other out during these Covid times when no one is travelling and everyone is staying in town. Please help by:

- If you have already secured a match on any given day, please avoid booking a second match on the same day.
- Already playing a league match that day? Avoid booking the court again that day. Do it on a non league day.
- Not making a member court booking everyday. Try a clinic instead or explore a different sport in WWC!

REMEMBER.....

Stay home if sick, even mildly.
Wash/Sanitize your hands frequently and cover your cough with your elbow.
Physically distance yourselves when around people not from your household

Remember that courts booked and not used is what makes all tennis players frustrated! Please be diligent in cancelling a court as quickly as possible so that other members can have the opportunity to book and play!

RESEARCHING SCHEDULE TWEAKS TO OPEN A FEW MORE COURTS!

With Covid-19 there are less members travelling as well as an influx of new members all looking to play more tennis. Of course this has put a strain on the courts. This will take a little time but here are some facts and figures for the membership to be aware of:
- There are no non-member lessons or programs. Everyone on the court is a member.
- Junior programs have not expanded. In fact 4 slots have been opened for member booking. Balmoral Hall girls and others have been added to Academy programming.
- Booking pressure is due to the increase in adult members and members who are in town and no longer travelling.
- Researching some booking tweaks on late afternoon/evening on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays to open additional slots for member booking.
- Looking to cut off Clinic Registrations/Friday mixed nights 3 hours before the event. If numbers and level of players can be accommodated on fewer courts then remaining court(s) will be released for member booking!

CONSIDER ALTERING YOUR HABITS TO OPEN A FEW MORE COURTS FOR OTHER MEMBERS TO ACCESS

When it comes to Covid-19, we are all in this together. Let's help each other out!

- Do you really need to book a court and play every day? There are many areas of the Club to explore and try! Play a little badminton once a week! Test out squash one day a week! Get in the gym once a week! Pickleball is coming soon    on the badminton courts! Give that a try! There are options. The Winter Club has so much more to offer than just tennis. Give something else a try!
- If you want to play 2 times a day, why not consider making only one member booking and then attending a clinic or a Friday Mixed night as your second on court time?

REMEMBER.....

Stay home if sick. Even mildly. Wash/sanitize your hands frequently and cover your cough with your elbow. Physically distance yourselves when around people not from your household and please wear your mask!

With the recent spike in cases, as an extra precaution measure, please avoid touching the balls with your hands when picking up balls. Use the baskets provided and make sure you sanitize prior to and after each use. Thanks!

DELETE YOUR COURT IF NO LONGER USING!

Remember, courts that are booked and not used is the number one frustration of tennis playing members! Please be diligent in cancelling a court as quickly as possible if you can't play so that other members can have the opportunity to book and play!
