The 2018 Winnipeg Winter Club Women's Professional Squash Championships is here this week at the WWC. The tournament runs Thursday February 1st -Sunday Feb.ruary 4th Admission to the event is free all week and weekend long. Now is your chance to see some of the best squash in the world including two of Canada's National team members, #2 seed Danielle Letourneau of Calgary and #6 seed Nikki Todd of Saskatchewan. They will be looking to make it back to back years that a Canadian wins the title after team-mate Samantha Cornett became the first ever Canadian to win the event, after defeating this years fourth seed Ziena Mickawy of Egypt in the final. Players from Canada, Egypt, Japan, Hong Kong, Mexico, and Pakistan will be taking part this year.
On Thursday night, several of our top local players will try their hand against the pro's. Alix Younger, MB #1, will be leading the charge as she faces off against Diana Garcia of Mexico at 7:00 pm, in what could be Manitoba's best hope for a victory.
